In Black Ops 4 Zombies, You Can Share Mystery Box Weapons

We all have that person on our team. They already have an LMG but keep hitting the mystery box for more goodies. While you struggle to get good guns, another LMG pops up. In previous Call of Duty games, you would shake your head at your friend’s luck. In Black Ops 4 Zombies, your friend can decline the weapon and let you have it.

Zombies Director Jason Blundell dropped that little nugget during a Q&A posted on PlayStation’s blog.

In a question about anything new coming to the Mystery Box, Blundell said:

“Yes. One example I can mention is that it’s now possible to decline taking a weapon from the box, but offer your team mates the opportunity to take it instead.”

The Q&A covers a lot more about the Zombies mode so be sure to give it a read. I’ll highlight a few more things below.

On perk customization:

“The biggest change to perk functionality comes down to customization. In Black Ops 4 zombies, players will be able to choose the perks that will be available at each of the Altar locations prior to starting the level. This will present some interesting strategies, particularly when it comes to co-op.”

Perk/map balance will be important here. Certain perks will always float to the top of the list – but it’ll be interesting to see how Treyarch balances them all out.

On whether or not classic weapons will return:

“As with previous games, the arsenal will be largely drawn from other game modes, but there will be some unique additions made as the season progresses.”

Yeah, I would be shocked if we don’t see classic weapons return at some point. How can you have Zombies without the ray gun?

On why a gladiator arena map:

“Again – it’s about moving away from traditional battle locations, and into something visually exciting that we’ve never really explored before. Aesthetics aside, there are of course significant narrative reasons why the characters are there, and what that experience will mean for their individual journeys, and for the story as a whole.”

This is the change I like the most so far. Enough with the castles and prisons, go crazy with it.

On bot support and how it will play:

“We don’t want the bots to play the game for you, so they won’t solve Easter Eggs! They will however allow everyone to experience dialogue and narrative elements that solo players traditionally miss out on.”

This is the first I’ve heard about bot support. A fantastic option for Zombies fans who prefer going it alone.

Treyarch also made a special edition of Black Ops 4 for the Zombies fans out there. The Mystery Box Edition is packed with tons of goodies including a puzzle, Steelbook, lithographs, and more.
