Sony teased us with a new horror game at their Gamescom briefing yesterday called P.T. Turns out, P.T. stands for playable teaser and is for the next Silent Hill game. Even better? Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro are working together on it.
News of what the game really was started breaking after gamers got their hands on the teaser yesterday. You can download from the Playstation store if you want to give it a try. The next iteration of Silent Hill will be titled Silent Hills.
Another tidbit of info is Walking Dead star Norman Reedus plays the game’s protagonist. Reedus is in a bit better company with Silent Hills. He needs it after the terrible The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct game. Game critics universally bashed that tie-in, giving a Metacritic score of 32.
Del Toro teaming up with Kojima means his first foray into video games is pretty much a lock. Before the THQ debacle that led to its dismantling, Del Toro was working on a title called Insane. That game still hasn’t been seen but there have been reports Del Toro was in talks with “a very, very big company.”
Check out the Gamescom teaser below. Want the crap scared out of you some more? Download the teaser off the Playstation Store.
The horror genre has been missing a AAA presence lately. With Del Toro and Kojima joining forces, I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the next Silent Hill.
