A Final Look at Red Dead Redemption 2 Before Launch

Just one more big score. That’s all Dutch is asking for in the opening moments of Red Dead Redemption 2’s launch trailer. Arthur’s response perfectly sums up the life him, and Dutch’s gang are stuck in. “There’s always a goddamn train.”

Everyone better hurry up and finish whatever October games you bought. Red Dead Redemption 2 is looking fantastic. Oh, and clear up some hard drive space. Rockstar’s latest game comes in at a hefty 89 GB 100 GB or so depending on the platform you buy (88.56 GB on Xbox One, 89.2 GB on PS4, Rockstar says it’s 107 GB on Xbox One and 99 on PS4).

Pretty soon publishers will be bundling these damn games with hard drives instead of consoles.

A heads-up for folks looking to play with friends. Red Dead Online won’t be launching until November, and it’ll launch as a public beta. So don’t expect a polished experience right off the bat.

Rockstar is also in the news over the past few days after comments made by co-founder Dan Houser to Vulture about “working 100-hour weeks.” This reignited the ‘crunch’ conversation across the industry.

Rockstar ended up lifting a social media ban on its employees talking about work experiences. Kotaku has a solid round-up of comments made so far with most of them being positive. Kotaku’s Jason Schreier mentions he is working on a bigger piece with anonymous sources about working at Rockstar and they’ve heard a “wide range of experiences.”

Red Dead Redemption 2 is pretty much guaranteed to be one of this holiday’s biggest games. Houser’s comments to Vulture give us a glimpse of what some developers go through when making a huge open-world game.
