Spider-Man PS4 Swings By on September 7

September 7. That’s the release date for Insomniac Games hotly anticipated take on Spider-Man hits PS4. It’s been a long two-years since that stunning debut trailer at E3 2016, but it’s almost here. Just five more months.

Here’s another look at that trailer from 2016 because why not.

Obviously, Spider-Man is open-world, and New York City is your playground as you take on baddies including Kingpin.

Game Informer tapped the web-slinging superhero for their May issue with plenty of new info. A few highlights from the released coverage so far include:

– 30 FPS on both PS4 and PS4 Pro (a bummer, but it won’t stop me from playing it. As long as it stays locked at 30 FPS, I’m good.)
– “Several times larger” than Sunset Overdrive (not shocking given how you get around the map)
– “Hell no” to microtransactions (easy PR win and a good thing anyways)
– Post-launch DLC planned

Creative Director Bryan Intihar sat down with Game Informer to answer 114 rapid-fire questions in a fun interview. There’s some filler in there, but also some more pieces of info I didn’t touch on above. Give it a watch.

The September release date does have me wondering where some other PS4 exclusives will land. While Sony has plenty of games in the pipeline, we’re short on concrete release dates for most of them. Days Gone was recently pushed to 2019. We still don’t have any idea when the other heavy hitters like The Last of Us: Part II, Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima are coming.

It’s going to be interesting to see if we get actual gameplay footage from those last three at E3. If it’s just more ‘cinematic’ footage, you have to start wondering if we are looking at Sony’s first set of cross-platform games (PS4 Pro/PS5).
