ABC is showing some confidence in their Marvel TV property. Ahead of its Tuesday premiere, the network has released first five minutes of season three.
The cold open reveals where things stand in the Agents of SHIELD universe after spending the second season battling the army of Inhumans led by Jiaying (Dichen Lachman). A SHIELD team led by Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet) is working to protect new Inhumans who were accidentally transformed after taking tainted Fish Oil spiked with Terrigen crystals.
That’s one way to get your Omega 3s. I wonder if Dr. Oz would shill for those?
The season opens on Joey (Juan Pablo Raba). A new Inhuman, he’s having a rough morning when he discovers he can melt metal by touching it. A team arrives to take him down, but Daisy shows up with a team to save him and show off ABC’s expanded budget for the show.
What else do we get a look at? The opening five minutes introduces us to Rosalind Price, the head of the Alien Threat Containment Unit. ABC is keeping the character details vague except that she will go toe-toe with Coulson during season three.
While ABC is trying to keep some surprises, it’s not exactly that big of a mystery. Both Price and Coulson are using teams to find/hunt Inhumans. Always bet on Coulson.
As soon as you have a spare five minutes, check the scene out. I can’t wait as we get closer and closer to the release of Captain America: Civil War. It’s fun to see how ABC/Marvel work the crossover as they exist in the same universe.
For those wanting to program your DVR, Agents of SHIELD premieres Tuesday, September 29 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
