Well, Paul Rudd or the Ant-Man can officially say this wasn’t his idea. The final trailer (Spanish) reveals something it probably shouldn’t have. An Avengers cameo.
It’s not too much of a spoiler. Marvel is working feverishly to bring together it various properties for the Infinity Wars. We knew an Avenger or two was bound to pop up in Ant-Man. I just didn’t think Marvel Studios would show it off in the trailers.
It happens at the 0:18 mark with Anthony Mackie’s Falcon appearing briefly on screen. Why is he there? No clue, but the ensemble casts of the movies are making them feel more like mini-Avengers movies at this point.
Some fans are upset at the spoiler, but it’s minor. Me? I’m more interested if this movie can pull a Guardians of the Galaxy. It was an unknown on how it would perform, and I think my skepticism is bleeding over to Ant-Man.
Avengers: Age of Ultron was underwhelming at best, and the best Marvel property this year has been Daredevil on Netflix. Can Ant-Man get the studio back on track with its storytelling?
After the first trailer, each successive trailer has been great in building what looks to be a heist movie with comic book characters. The cameos of various characters will start to make sense in Captain America: Civil War. While the title may say Captain America, it is undoubtedly a Marvel movie. The cast is just insane.
Ant-Man hits theaters on July 17. Let me know what you think in the comments. Are you upset by the goof made my Marvel’s marketing team, or were you counting on the Avengers popping up throughout the film?
