Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Launch Trailer Way Before Launch

There’s not too much going on we haven’t seen before in today’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare launch trailer, but hey, it’s another excuse to listen to Metallica. We get another mash-up of story moments as we follow Captain Price, Alex, and Farah as they tackle a global threat.

Damn, it’s good to see Call of Duty back. The beta sold me. Hell, even the new mobile game is decent. But we are only a couple of weeks away from seeing if the full package can live up to all the hype. So far, it’s looking good.

This year’s Modern Warfare is going to have its work cut out if it wants to live up to the original. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’s story is widely considered a classic in the franchise.

‘All Ghillied Up’ was the ‘holy crap’ moment for me. Crawling around Pripyat as enemy patrols walked feet away was the defining moment in Call of Duty 4. It ratcheted up the tension to 11 and was absolutely thrilling to play. I’m crossing my fingers that this year’s Modern Warfare soft reboot can deliver a moment like that. It’s a high bar, but maybe the new Infinity Ward can reach past it.

While I love me some Metallica, I’m also pumped to hear what Sarah Schachner came up with on the music front. Schachner’s no stranger to the Call of Duty franchise as she worked on Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Modern Warfare 3. She also composed the fantastic Assassin’s Creed: Origins soundtrack.

Yep, that’s on my Spotify playlist for soundtracks. So good.

Unfortunately, today’s launch trailer doesn’t mean Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is launching right now. The trailer is a little early. Modern Warfare is coming out on October 25. And for all the Battle Royale fans, data miners digging through last month’s beta did find a mention of a potential mode.
