A trademark application gave away the next Total War Saga earlier this month. But it turns out we’re getting another one before that. Total War: Shogun 2 – Fall of the Samurai is joining Thrones of Britannia as the second Total War Saga game. A quick note, existing owners will receive all DLC (except the blood pack) for free.
Creative Assembly is celebrating the rebrand with a price cut on both Total War Sagas:

It’s the first time Creative Assembly has taken existing DLC and rebranded it into a Saga, but it makes sense. Fall of the Samurai isn’t a tiny piece of DLC. It takes place 400 years after the events of Total War: Shogun 2 and tasks you with preparing ancient Japan for the modern age.
It fits the developer’s vision for Sagas. Fall of the Samurai doesn’t follow a single character or span an era. Instead, you shape the outcome of a single flashpoint in history. In this case, the precarious transition from ancient Japan to a modern one.
Creative Assembly describes how they used Fall of the Samurai as a sort of guide as they began work on Total War Sagas. These smaller games are meant to test new ideas and build on mechanics that could see their way into mainline titles.
While it’s not the Troy Saga we’ve heard rumblings about, the older games do have their advantages – mods. Here’s a fantastic Lord of the Rings mod using Total War: Shogun 2.
