Darksiders Genesis Goes Isometric

Darksiders Genesis is ditching the third-person camera for the isometric (top-down) view games like Diablo are known for. It’s a significant shift for the franchise, and one I imagine THQ Nordic hopes generates more excitement and sales. It’s working for me. I can’t get enough of games like Diablo, Path of Exile, Grim Dawn, and others.

Let’s take a look at the first trailer for Darksiders Genesis.

A few takeaways.

– Strife (a new Horsemen) and War (from the first game) are teaming up. We can see both fighting during the short gameplay portion of the trailer.  I guess this all but confirms two-player co-op.

– Strife would look at home in the Destiny universe. Seriously, I thought Cayde died and went to hell.

– Loot system? Darksiders 2 had one, but we’ll have to wait and see what Airship Syndicate have planned for the gameplay hooks. I sure hope it has one. A well-executed loot system would add to the replay value. And if done right, could become the next big loot game.

No word on a release date yet and Darksiders Genesis is coming to all the big platforms (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Google Stadia).
