Battlefield V is less than two months away. While it took a while for DICE to finally give us an epic trailer, everyone’s about to get hands-on time. The open beta release date was revealed during the Nvidia press conference.
Starting September 4th (for preorders, September 6 for everyone else) the beta goes live. The Rotterdam map we saw in the last trailer joins Arctic Fjord from the closed alpha.
Battlefield V’s Rotterdam looked unbelievable during Nvidia’s graphics card reveal conference. The hyped up ray-tracing feature is the real deal.
And EA is feeling confident that Rotterdam will become a classic Battlefield map. Check out this line from today’s press release:
“The Open Beta will showcase the soon-to-be-iconic Rotterdam map on Conquest mode.”
That’s some high praise. And honestly, I’m even more pumped to play the open beta now.
I might hate on EA’s approach to marketing, but I’ve been enjoying the hell out of the game itself during the two closed alphas. The TTK (time to kill) feels a tad too fast, but I do like the more tactical feel to the overall gameplay. From squad revives and attrition (ammo scarcity) to reinforcements (kinda like killstreaks but based on squad performance), the changes help make Battlefield V feel like another fresh entry into the franchise. Not just an add-on to Battlefield 1.
It’ll be nice playing a new map that doesn’t have snow flying in your face constantly. Seriously DICE, tone that down a little it on Arctic Fjord.
According to a blog post from DICE, the open beta will also feature a preview of Tides of War. Here’s how the devs describe it:
“The ever-evolving journey through WW2 featuring a new narrative every few months — also awaits players in September. Each chapter of Tides of War is designed to focus on an aspect of the era, with unique gameplay experiences to drive players forward.”
Well, we won’t lack for stuff to play early next month. Just look at the first ten days of September.
September 4 – Battlefield V open beta
September 4 – Destiny 2: Forsaken
September 6 – Spiderman (PS4)
September 10 – Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout beta
And the games just keep coming after that.
Battlefield V is coming to Xbox One, PS4, and PC on October 19th.
