Updated to add trailer.

We all knew about the Arrow/Flash spin-off involving Ray Palmer’s Atom. Legends of Tomorrow pulls characters from both shows to form one. A hero from Arrow and villains from Flash.

Now we finally have a timeframe for Legends of Tomorrow. It’s a midseason premiere in early 2016. Interesting plan for the show, but plenty of CW hits have come out of midseason debuts. The 100 and iZombie are two of the most recent.

Also, we get to see the return of Caity Lotz as the ‘White Canary.’ We last saw Lotz as the Black Canary/Sara Lance on Arrow but was killed off during season three’s premiere. She’s back. Or, at least we think she’s back.

While the CW lists her character as ‘White Canary,’ we don’t know much about her character. How did she rise from the grave? The trailer implies the Lazarus Pit, but it brings up questions surrounding the plot of Arrow’s season three.

Could it be this isn’t Sara Lance at all?

The White Canary was an enemy to the Black Canary in Gail Simone’s ‘Birds of Prey.’ Now, the CW doesn’t have to follow the comics, and if she’s in any crossover episodes, it will make sense to have her as Sara Lance resurrected.

Legends of Tomorrow

Here’s the official line from the network:

When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?

The cast will include Brandon Routh as Atom, Lotz, Wentworth Miller, Victor Garber, Dominic Purcell, Arthur Darvill and Ciara Renee.

Expect the marketing to ramp up towards the fall for the show. I hope it captures the magic of the first seasons of Arrow and season one of Flash.

Please, don’t let season three of Arrow be a prelude of what to expect out of CW’s DC block.
