Keanu Reeves isn’t the only one back for John Wick 2.
The news keeps getting better for John Wick fans. Ian McShane is returning to reprise his role as Winston, the owner of the Continental Hotel.
Outside of Keanu’s character, McShane’s portrayal of Winston was my favorite. Yes, he’s barely in the movie, but the entire concept of the Continental Hotel practically begs for the sequel.
And who didn’t love the scene when Wick pulls up to the front door in the Chevelle. Damn, I want that car.
If you don’t remember, the Continental served as a one-stop shop for Assassins. The hotel offered the best concierge, dry cleaning if it wasn’t too bad and on-call doctors just in case your night out on the town got a little too intense.
Say something like this:
Yeah, that might leave a suit a bit stained. And falling off a club balcony? You’d have to wheel me to the ICU.
There’s just one rule at the Continental. No killing in the hotel. It’s a rule that is strictly enforced, and it seems Winston has a soft spot for Wick.
Lionsgate isn’t commenting on the news, but the casting makes sense. John Wick 2 continues to fill out its casting as it heads towards production.
Ian McShane is coming off this season’s Ray Donovan and recently wrapped up filming his part in the sixth season of Game of Thrones. The man definitely has a schedule like no other.
John Wick 2 has a tentative release date for next year. The exact date will get firmed up as production gets started. Look for more casting and plot details in the weeks to come.
