Don’t expect that Assassin’s Creed film anytime soon. Word is the film is being rewritten by Adam Cooper and Bill Collage. Cooper and Collage have wrote scripts for critically acclaimed directors Ridley Scott and Darren Aronofsky in the past.
The two have most recently wrote the original draft for Ridley Scott’s “Gods & Kings.” They also worked together on the script for the George Washington biopic, “The General.”
Getting a script together for the Assassin’s Creed movie has been a bit of a headache for Ubisoft Motion Pictures and New Regency. This isn’t the first time the script has been rewritten. Michael Lesslie wrote one of the first drafts for the film before Scott Frank was brought in.
We first heard about the Assassin’s Creed film back in 2011. In 2012, news came out that Michael Fassbender would star in the film. Fassbender will be lead and will also co-produce the film.
Unity Coming This Fall
On the gaming front, Ubisoft’s next Assassin’s Creed is titled Assassin’s Creed Unity. Set during the French Revolution, Unity will hit next-gen consoles this fall.
There are also reports of another Assassin’s Creed game called Comet releasing this year for PS3 and Xbox 360.
Ubisoft is one busy company. Two Assassin’s Creed titles, Watch Dogs, The Division and who knows what else. On top of that, they are working on six movies based on their popular franchises. The above mentioned Assassin’s Creed is joined by films on Ghost Recon, Watch Dogs, Far Cry, Splinter Cell and Rabbids.
All that’s missing is a Rainbow Six game. Seriously Ubisoft, give us something at E3.
