Nelson and Richard Irving from the Xbox Engineer Team sat down to talk a bit more about Backward Compatibility on Xbox One. One of the biggest features coming is the ability for Xbox One players to play with friends on Xbox 360. It’s not just games the Xbox team is getting to work on Xbox One. The Xbox 360 guide also comes over. Just press the ‘menu’ and ‘view’ button (that’s the ‘start’ and ‘back’ button) to bring up the Xbox 360 guide.
You can also use Xbox One features while playing Xbox 360 games. Things like screenshots, game clips and streaming to Twitch. You can also stream Xbox 360 games to your PC via Windows 10.
Check it out in action below.
When’s Red Dead Redemption coming?
Sorry folks, no date on that – but Major Nelson did tease some of the games coming in December. “More titles are on the way, including fan favorites like Halo Reach, Halo Wars, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Bioshock, Bioshock 2, Bioshock Infinite and Skate 3,” Nelson writes in a blog post.
Well, it looks like Activision is listening. C’mon Rockstar, it’s your turn. Skate 3 is another big one coming to Xbox One. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a great skateboarding game.
There are a few games I’m surprised didn’t make the list. With Bethesda and Ubisoft pushing their games (Fallout and Rainbow Six), I figured Skyrim and Ghost Recon titles would be a sure bet. Maybe developers/publishers will hold some Xbox 360 games until the next entry comes out. Like previous Ghost Recon games come with Ghost Recon: Wildlands. I hope not, but it wouldn’t surprise me.
Now that we know the first batch of games coming, which ones are you excited to revisit or play for the first time? I think I still have my copy of Condemned: Criminal Origins laying around here somewhere…
