Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Platinum Games. That’s all action game fans really need to know. Here’s the trailer.

Ok, sign me up. That looks insane.

Yesterday, I wrote an Australian rating board gave the game a ‘M’ rating. That is true, but it’s rated ‘T’ in the U.S. according to the trailer.

Here’s a description from the game’s Xbox page:

Battle alongside your brothers through the sewers, subways, and streets of NYC to take down Shredder and Krang’s evil organization, Foot by Foot. Unleash custom combat skills and powerful team combos to save Manhattan from the overwhelming dark forces growing in the shadows.

Find three friends and get ready to smash heads in 4-player online co-op. As for story? TMNT comic writer Tom Waltz is penning an original one. And fans of Platinum Games’ frenetic combat should be pleased by what they see.

Producer Robert Cooper describes the combat of each Turtle in a PlayStation blog post.

“Leonardo’s katanas make him the most well rounded character, thanks to his medium-ranged reach and moderate attack speed. Raphael, on the other hand, is a little bit slower, but he’s a powerhouse. And even though Mikey’s nunchucks limit his strike zone, his attacks are the speediest of the bunch. And Donatello? His staff gives him the longest reach; so I’ll handle the ranged attacks.”

Look up ‘action games’ in the dictionary and there should be a picture of Platinum Games’ logo. They are kings of the action genre and are bringing their expertise to a beloved franchise for many of us. The game will hit pretty much every console platform including PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. Platinum Games and Activision will be taking all of our money sometime this Summer.
