Do we all need another messaging app? I doubt it. But, that doesn’t stop companies from believing we do.
Meet Wire. The latest messaging app wasn’t just slapped together. Some of the smartest people behind Skype created Wire.
Its simple design will appeal to fans of minimalism.
50 people from more than 20 countries created the newest, and best looking-messaging app. Janus Friis, co-founder of Skype, is supporting the team behind Wire.
“Skype was launched more than a decade ago. A lot has changed since then – we are all used to free calls and texting, and we have taken to carrying our computers in our pockets,” said Friis. “It is time to create the best possible communication tools, as beautiful as they are useful. Wire is just that.”
It definitely is. Check out Wire’s sleek design.
You can try out Wire for yourself right now on iOS, Android and OS X. Sorry Windows. No app for you, at least not yet.
Wire’s standout feature is its design. The typical messaging app features are there. Messaging, voice calling, sharing pictures, music and video. Wire’s strength is combining them all into a great looking package. Conversations sync across all devices. Start chatting on your iMac, and take it to your iPhone.
Headquartered in Switzerland, Wire’s team has several “former product and technology leaders from Apple, Skype, Nokia and Microsoft.”
Wire’s biggest challenge will be establishing a user base. Convincing millions of people to ditch their favorite messaging app will be a hard sell. But, Wire’s sleek design will help sway some.
Give Wire a shot, and let me know what you think.
