Dan Perjar recorded the meteor on his dash cam as he drove on I-440 towards the Raleigh area last night.
Reports of last night’s fireball weren’t limited to North Carolina. Residents across Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, West Virginia, New Jersey and Washington, D.C. reported sightings.
Here’s an image from the American Meteor Society showing a heatmap of fireball reports.
Another image shows the probable trajectory of the fireball as it moved across the sky above Virginia before eventually burning up.
