DOOM Gets a Cinematic Trailer as Closed Beta Begins
DOOM cinematic trailer

I’m digging the steady stream of trailers in the lead up to DOOM. Today, we trade gameplay for a cinematic trailer. Watch our Space Marine do his thing in the minute long trailer below.

Joe Kosinski, you’ll recognize his work in Oblivion and Tron: Legacy, directed the short clip for Bethesda. He wanted to capture the essence of DOOM – “Relentless Combat, Terrifying Demons and Bad Ass Guns.” Check, check and check.

I will say one thing. I’m not feeling the song. It’s not a bad song, I just like the music from previous trailers more. It doesn’t get any better than the campaign trailer from last month.

Now that music screams ass-kicking DOOM action.

DOOM closed beta starts tonight

Those of you who pre-purchased Wolfenstein: The New Order and redeemed your beta code can jump in starting tonight at 10:00 pm ET. The closed beta wraps up at 11:59 pm ET on Sunday.

DOOM’s closed beta includes two maps – Heatwave and Infernal. You’ll be blasting folks across two game modes – Team Deathmatch and Warpath.

Team Deathmatch is self-explanatory. Kill more than the other team and you win. Warpath is DOOM’s take on King of the Hill. The capture zone continuously moves along a set path across the map. It promises to keep the action tense and moving.

The closed beta will also give many of us our first look at all the different weapons, armor sets, taunts and hack modules coming in the full release on May 13. You gotta love Friday game releases. Get to pull all-nighters without feeling like crap the next day.
