Warzone Firefight Doubles The Fun
Halo 5 Warzone Firefight

With all the games coming out recently, I’ve forgotten just how great Halo 5: Guardians is. I was able to catch a few of the matches from the Halo 5 World Championships this weekend and it had me itching to play again.

There’s just something about competitive Halo that gets me pumped, and it’s great to see it popular again. It’s no League of Legends, Counter-Strike or DOTA – but I saw a solid 70k viewers watching the finals. Too bad the finals turned out to be a dud with CLG 4-0’ing Allegiance. Congrats to CLG for winning $1 million. And it’s not all bad for Allegiance. They walked home with $500,000.

Halo 5 firefight

343 Industries continues to build on Halo 5: Guardians and their next big piece of content focuses on the co-op fans. Firefight is back, and it’s bigger than ever. You and up to seven friends will face off against The Covenant and Prometheans across five rounds. “Dynamic objectives” are thrown in for good measure. Anyways, enough talking – here’s the trailer.

Did I see a Brute plasma rifle?

Brute plasma rifle in Halo 5

I sure as hell did! (Look to the left, on the ground) Could the Brutes come back in Halo 5? We can wish, and it would be great.

Placing Firefight on the Warzone maps means REQs are in. Having some trouble with a tougher enemy? Deploy a Mantis. Need some extra firepower? You choose what you want to fight with. If you need some plasma pistols or a Mongoose, I have you covered. 343 just loves to shower me with those.

We also got a glimpse of the next Warzone map coming in April. It’s called Skirmish at Darkstar and promises to bring “an entirely new feel to the Warzone experience, with a variety of unique sightlines, flank routes, and cover pieces that that invite you to push across and throughout the map, dodge danger from patrolling vehicles, and perfectly time an attack on opponents.”

Here’s the first screenshot.

Halo 5 Ghosts of Meridian

With Ghosts of Meridian coming in April and Warzone Firefight slated for summer, we’re looking at new content continuing their monthly releases. Here’s how the Spring/Summer content schedule is shaping up.

Halo 5 DLC

I’m still wondering what Hog Wild is.

What do you think of the Warzone Firefight? Also, did you catch any of the Halo 5 World Championships?
