That Battlefield 1 season pass you bought almost a year ago will finally get a little more use soon. “In the Name of the Tsar” puts the spotlight on the Russian army and the Women’s Battalion of Death. Six new maps, 11 new weapons, new vehicles, and a new game mode are coming September 19th.

Those of us who bought Battlefield 1’s Premium Pass get the usual two-week head start on the new content starting September 5th.

“In the Name of the Tsar” is the second of four planned expansions from DICE. “Turning Tides” is the third and set for a December release. “Apocalypse” will wrap up Battlefield 1 in early 2018.

I’ll break down the new weapons by which class can use them.

The Supply Drop game mode

BF1 Supply Drop

Nothing will ever replace Conquest, but DICE is adding a new mode for us to try out called Supply Drop. It’s pretty much what it sounds like. Two teams will fight over supply drops across the map. Securing them nets you ammo, health packs, vehicles, and Elite Class pickups. The team with the most points (from capturing supply drops) wins.

Battlefield 1 gets prettier with HDR

Battlefield 1 is already a looker. With the right TV, it’s about to look even better. High dynamic range (HDR) support is coming as part of next month’s expansion. Better contrast and colors will make Battlefield 1 pop for those with newer TVs.

I’ll give the new content a shot before Destiny 2 swallows up my gaming time for the next couple weeks.
