When you hear Rockstar and remaster, L.A. Noire probably isn’t high on your list of games. But here we are. Today, Rockstar announced L.A. Noire is coming to Nintendo Switch(!), PS4, Xbox One, and HTC Vive.
It’s always good to see AAA games, even older ones, make their way to a Nintendo platform.
“L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files for HTC Vive delivers seven of the original engrossing, self-contained cases from LA Noire rebuilt specifically for virtual reality, blending breathtaking action with true detective work to deliver an unprecedented interactive experience.”
And it’s not just a remaster. The HTC Vive version is bringing seven of the game’s cases rebuilt from the ground up specifically for VR. Delivering what Rockstar describes as “an unprecedented interactive experience.”
The PS4 and Xbox One versions come with the complete original game, all the DLC, and a whole bunch of under-the-hood improvements to take advantage of the hardware. The PS4 Pro and Xbox One X versions get the 4K treatment.
Six years ago, L.A. Noire brought a different, compelling experience despite serious development issues. You weren’t being chased by the police, you were doing the chasing. You can revisit L.A. Noire on November 14th.
And hey Rockstar, give us a Table Tennis remaster while you’re at it. Or at least make it backward compatible with Xbox One. There’s a stunning lack of tennis games out there. Remember Top Spin?
Fun fact, that table tennis game was the first to use the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine which would go on to be used in GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption.
