There is a flurry of Xbox news today, and I haven’t even touched the biggest (possible hardware updates?! Hell yes!). I’m still wrapping my head around that one. In the meantime, let’s talk about the new update coming to Xbox One in March.

Buy Xbox 360 backward compatible games on Xbox One

It’s about time. According to the Xbox team, “fans have spent more than 30 million hours playing Xbox 360 games on Xbox One.” And, they didn’t even have an easy way to buy Xbox 360 games they don’t already own. Before, we had to buy via Xbox.com. With the March update, we can purchase Xbox 360 games right from our Xbox One.

Here’s a screenshot of how the storefront looks.

Now put Red Dead Redemption and Black Ops in that image and we are good to go.

Party chat in Twitch broadcasts

I won’t use this, but I know how big of a deal Twitch is for many of you. Want to get your friends in on the livestreaming fun? You can send people in your party invites to include their chat audio in your broadcast. Are you a little too colorful? You can decline it and your chat audio won’t be included.

More Game DVR recording options

Now my Rocket League clips can be even longer. Right now Game DVR recordings are fixed at 30 seconds. This month’s update gives you more options ranging from 15 seconds to 5 minutes.

16 person party chat

Damn, I thought having 8 people was already a cluster. How the hell can you carry on a conversation with 16 people? Hey, more options are better for everyone, and 16 person party chats are coming.

Reputation changes

The Xbox team is tweaking the Reputation system to include only players who have been rated ‘needs work’ or ‘avoid me.’ How big of an asshole do you have to be to get these ratings? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a person with these.

These are the big updates coming to the Xbox One OS in March. Other updates include Gamerscore Leaderboard, updated ‘featured’ section, Xbox 360 achievements and more. What feature are you finally pumped to see? Any features you think the Xbox team needs to start working on right away? Let me know in the comments.
