The Twitch app on Xbox One just received a pretty big update. Here’s two of the biggest features you need to know about when updating your Twitch app today.

Advanced Filtering

Ok, this feature is awesome and I hope other platforms start getting it soon. Advanced filtering features lets you sift through streams according to real-time gameplay stats. Some of the examples Microsoft describes include searching for the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare streamer with the highest K/D ratio. Or, a broadcaster with the highest rank in Halo 2: Anniversary.

“Depending on the game, the filters may include player stats, game modes, maps, player skill level, in-game activity, progress, and more,” according to an Xbox Wire post.

In the YouTube video below, Major Nelson shows you how to filter The Walking Dead by ‘Episodes Completed,’ ‘Number of Choices Made,’ and ‘Times Died.’ Other games are showcased including Forza and Call of Duty.

It’s kind of mind-blowing when you think about the tech at work here.

VODs Come to Xbox One

The other big feature coming today is videos on demand (VODs). Now you can catch past broadcasts or highlights from your favorite broadcasters.

The Twitch home screen is also getting a makeover with personalization taking center stage. Now, you can follow entire games – not just specific channels.

You can also manually select the quality of the stream.

It’s a massive update to the Twitch app. The advanced filtering options alone are impressive. I’ll be taking it for a test drive later to see how well it works.

Tell me what you think of the new features in the comments below. Also, let me know if you’ve tried it.
