We all know EA is set for a monster holiday 2015. Star Wars: Battlefront is guaranteed to have bonkers sales numbers. The publisher expects to sell 9-10 million copies of Star Wars: Battlefront from launch (November 17) through March 31, 2016.
Plus, EA will release their usual slate of sports titles including Fifa 16, Madden 16, NHL 16, Rory McIlroy PGA Tour and NBA Live 16.
While EA talked a lot about 2015 in yesterday’s conference call, they also touched on 2016. Mirror’s Edge 2 and a new Plants vs Zombies game will be coming in the fiscal fourth quarter. That’s January 1 through March 31, 2016.
EA didn’t dive into any specific release date. E3 is right around the corner, so I imagine we’ll hear more about both games then.
We already knew about Mirror’s Edge 2. A new Plants vs Zombies game is news, though. EA CEO said the new PvZ game will be a follow-up to the fantastic Garden Warfare.
“After Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare became a sensation last year with console players young and old, we’ll be returning to the Plants vs. Zombies universe with a bigger and bolder new console experience in FY16,” Wilson said.
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is a criminally underrated game. I played it thanks to EA Access and regret not playing it sooner. Seriously, it is one of last year’s best multiplayer shooters.
EA also briefly touched on Titanfall. It looks like wall-running and massive robots will have to wait a while. “In terms of Titanfall, you should assume that that’s not in fiscal 2016. It’s more likely in fiscal 2017,” said Blake Jorgensen, EA CFO.
Fiscal 2017 is April 1, 2016 through March 31, 2017.
We are about a month away from the E3 spectacle. Which EA games do you want to hear more about? Just give me some Battlefront footage, and EA’s conference is a win.
